Blazers Drop Final
Game of 2023 at West Noble
The Eastside Blazers (4-4,1-2) were back in action after having 10 days without a game on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to NECC foe West Noble (4-5, 3-1). The Blazers had trouble in the first quarter handling the Chargers press and when they did break the press, they just weren't able to buy a basket which led to a 18-0 deficit after the first quarter. Noah Acquaviva was finally able to get Eastside on the board as he added 6 points in the second quarter to head into halftime down 33-6. The second half was much of the same story as the Blazers were able able to score 7 in the second half compared to 24 for West Noble bringing the final score to 13-59. Noah led the way with 10 points. Freshmen Evan Elden and Micah Miller both scored their first career varsity point(s), Evan on a 5 foot basket, and Micah at the free throw line.
The junior varsity team battled hard and played with energy in their matchup with the Chargers bet eventually fell 33-63.
Next up for your Blazers is a busy weekend to kick of the new year as we travel to Fairfield High for a triple header with boys and girls junior varsity starting at 5:00pm, followed by the girls varsity game at 6:30pm, and boys varsity at 8:00pm. The next day we travel back across state lines as we take on Edgerton in their old gym game.
Continuing this week will be the Christmas Break Skills Development Sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These sessions started last week and are grouped into two different grade levels, 2nd-4th and 5th-8th graders. Last week our future Blazers worked on stationary and full court dribbling, playing in stance on offense and defense, and passing, next week we will continue to build on these fundamental skills with the goal of offering Spring, Summer, and Fall opportunities.
